Discover TURBRO Lapland Series Mini-Split: Smart Hold Mode

Picture this: you’re heading off for a ski trip, a long beach getaway, or just closing up the cabin for the season. The last thing you want is to come home to burst pipes, flooded floors, and a repair bill that could buy another vacation.

That’s exactly why Smart Hold Mode exists.

It quietly steps in and keeps your indoor temperature locked right around 46.4°F (8°C)—the widely recognized safety threshold that prevents water pipes from freezing and bursting in cold climates. No drama, no excess energy burn—just steady, reliable protection.

1. Prevent Freezing – Pipe Freeze Protection and Structural Safeguard

  • The inverter compressor operates at minimal speed with real-time temperature feedback, ensuring stable setpoint control without excessive cycling.
  • Integrated with anti-freeze safeguards on the outdoor unit (including base pan heating where applicable), the system prevents condensate icing and maintains reliable operation during extended vacancy periods.
  • Ideal for vacation homes, seasonal residences, second properties, or any structure in freeze-prone U.S. climates, this mode eliminates the risk of costly water damage repairs while requiring only minimal energy input.

2. Reheat Quickly – Rapid Return to Comfort Setpoint

Upon return, Smart Hold Mode enables swift transition from maintenance temperature to user-selected comfort levels (typically 68–72°F) through enhanced heat pump output and optimized inverter response.

  • The system prioritizes high-frequency compressor operation combined with FAST REHEAT logic, delivering accelerated heat delivery and minimizing warm-up time.
  • Real-world performance data indicates recovery to comfortable indoor conditions in significantly less time compared to startup from full ambient shutdown or conventional fixed-speed systems.
  • This capability supports efficient re-occupancy in U.S. homes after extended absences, reducing occupant wait time and enhancing overall system responsiveness.

3. Save Time & Energy – Optimized Low-Load Efficiency

Smart Hold Mode leverages full inverter modulation to sustain the 46.4°F setpoint at extremely low power consumption, outperforming traditional on/off or non-inverter maintenance heating methods.

  • Continuous low-speed compressor operation avoids inefficient start-stop cycles, resulting in reduced energy draw and extended component longevity.
  • Combined with the Lapland Series' high SEER2 (up to 25) and HSPF2 ratings, the mode achieves substantial long-term savings—often 30%+ lower energy use versus equivalent fixed-capacity operation during vacancy.

FAQ:How to activate the Smart Hold Mode?

Only in the heating mode in the power-on state, press the "MODE" and “+"buttons at the same time above 3 seconds to turn on or off the 8°C(46°F) heating function.

After turning on the 8°C(46°F) heating function:

  • Press the“HEAT"button, or switch to mode,or select the sleep function, all can exit 8°C(46°F)heating function.
  • Press the "SPEED", "+", "-" button is all non-effective.
  • Fahrenheit/Celsius switching function is non-effective.
  • Turn off and on the unit again, 8°C(46°F)heating function is still retained.
